Elleai D'amore: the Girl Behind the Chanel Sunglasses

Standing across from Elleai D'Amore, I am inspired by her mix of bohemian rock fashion with designer goods. Dressed in a brown creased men's shirt (altered by Elleai by adding over-sized gray buttons) half tucked into small fitting J&Company denim micro shorts, held together with a vintage waist belt, topped off with a tattered Balenciaga bag, so distorted from it's original black that the bag almost looks off-gray, Elleai breaths vintage runway - and I am taking notes.
Jotting down how she has put this ensemble together, I find myself interested in a small sculpture hanging from the buckle of her bag.
"It's the Buddha," Elleai confirms. "I like to carry a sentiment of my religion wherever I am. When I'm overwhelmed it brings me back to Earth."
Her trademark messy, 40inch black hair is unstyled today, as it is most days, and hangs loosely over her shoulders and down her back, adding to the mysteriousness that is Elleai D'Amore.
But 18 year old Elleai has fought a long hard battle to stand as the determined young woman she is today.
"I've dealt with a lot," she says, "but you grow from hardship."
